Photography is an important part in Ton van Geelen’s artistic life. Impressions of his travels, walks in the countryside and cities, people from other cultures, events etc. serve as inspiration for his creations.

The game of colorful lights, smoke and dance, the atmosphere of the discos inspired Ton in his youth, when he was going out and danced on several dancefloors in the area. The atmosphere and music have fascinated him greatly. He had ideas and feelings about it, but he couldn’t translate it on canvas…

The highlight of 2025... Ton's trip to Norway, near Odda, at Folgefonna National Park. It was a holiday with two beautiful stories. One story that ended after 25 years, and one is about to begin.

Ton van Geelen has an opinion of women: "Women have two sides; a beautiful, warm, and sensual side, and an elusive and mysterious side." That makes them cool in his eyes.

In the summer of 2024 Ton made a trip to Folgefonna Nasjonalpark, Norway. Folgefonna, the third largest glacier on mainland Norway, is the heart of the national park. Here are glacier tongues and icefalls, wild valleys, and raging rivers of rushing meltwater and scenic summer pastures.

Ton likes to travel and visits different European cities regularly. Sculptures, modern architecture, old buildings and ruins fascinate him.

'In 1993 Ton was in Grindelwald (Switzerland) at the invitation of the owner of Hotel Alpenblick, to hold an exhibition of his own work. On the Thursday it began to snow heavily. I woke up early the next day. It was beautiful outside. A thick pack of snow, everything white and a clear blue sky, not even a person on the street. I dressed quickly and went for a walk. After an hour up the hill, I turned around. I stood in a beautiful spot among the snow-covered trees and had a view of all the mountains, the valley and the village. The Wetterhorn, Eiger, Mönch, Jungfrau ... even the Schreckhorn and the Finsteraarhorn were visible. In the distance I heard a radio boomed ... "What a cool happening it would be to put a DJ here and let’s party ..." But yes, threatening avalanche danger and freezing cold ... Impossible. ‘

In 'biography' it is already indicated that Ton paints what he likes, what attracts him. Besides the dance scene, cityscapes and sensuality, there is much more that fascinates him.
